If you are travelling to China to buy goods for a shop, your own brand, or wholesale distribution, start by asking what the trip should achieve. Selecting a ready-made range, developing a private-label sample, and ordering packaging require different meetings. Guangzhou is a convenient starting point, but the right manufacturer may be in another district, Foshan, Zhongshan, or Dongguan.

Where to go from Guangzhou for your products

Use the diagram for an overview, then choose a destination from the list below. Each branch is a separate trip from Guangzhou, not a sequential route through every location.

Sourcing destinations from Guangzhou: Baiyun Market, Meibo City in Yuexiu, Shiling in Huadu, Xintang in Zengcheng, Yanbu in Foshan, Zhongshan, Houjie in Dongguan, and Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen. Products and travel times are listed below the map.
Illustrative route diagram, not a navigation map. Driving times are approximate one-way estimates and are checked against the address and traffic. On a phone, use the destination cards below.

This guide brings together destinations that help build a purposeful sourcing itinerary. We also compare southern China with Zhejiang: colour cosmetics with Quzhou and Dongyang, household appliances with Cixi, and cosmetic packaging with Yuyao. The comparison helps select suppliers and order terms. A city's name alone determines neither quality nor the final batch cost.

Tiger Logistics connects product selection with the work that follows: finding a supplier, agreeing an order or production, inspecting the incoming batch, consolidating goods, and arranging delivery. You can visit in person, ask us to handle individual meetings, or begin with remote sourcing. The format depends on the stage of your purchase.

Guangzhou or Hangzhou: choose the product before the route

A women's clothing retailer may start with collections and complete outfits. A cosmetics brand starts with formula, shades, and packaging. An appliance importer starts with specifications, samples, documents, and repeat supply. Mixing these tasks into one schedule means spending much of the time travelling and holding conversations that still leave information missing.

In Vera's experience, Hangzhou interests women's clothing buyers who value design and regularly refreshed styles. Nearby destinations specialise in children's clothing, fabrics, down jackets, and knitwear. Guangzhou supports other combinations: cosmetics and packaging, bags and shoes, jeans and underwear, household appliances, and meetings with equipment manufacturers.

Compare these destinations before booking flights. Send the same brief to several suitable businesses, request samples, and clarify terms. After that preparation, the trip can focus on concrete decisions: which sample to approve, what to change, and whom to commission. You can begin with sourcing-trip and factory-visit arrangements.

You do not need to visit every supplier merely because they are nearby. Leaving time for a second meeting with two suitable manufacturers is more useful than collecting dozens of catalogues without clear prices or deadlines. Nor must you replace a reliable partner for a small difference in the initial price: compare product consistency, defect resolution, and ease of replenishment too.

Where to go from Guangzhou: eight sourcing destinations

The map shows different tasks: selecting women's bags at Baiyun Market, comparing cosmetics and packaging at Meibo City, finding backpacks and materials in Shiling, or visiting Shenzhen for electronics. Meibo City is in Yuexiu, Shiling in Huadu, and Xintang in Zengcheng. These locations are part of Guangzhou. Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, and Shenzhen are separate cities.

Each arrow represents a separate journey from Guangzhou, not a mandatory route through every city. The figures help estimate one-way driving time; we calculate the actual journey from your hotel to the selected market or factory.

Private-label cosmetics: Guangzhou, Quzhou, or Dongyang

Baiyun is one of Guangzhou's cosmetics manufacturing centres, covering development, raw materials, packaging, and production. Huadu is also part of the city's cosmetics supply chain. Buyers can discuss the product and its presentation within one programme. However, a factory strong in skincare may not suit your eyeshadow palette or lipstick.

Tiger has experience working with colour-cosmetics factories in Quzhou and Dongyang. In Vera's assessment, those partners offered affordable prices. This provides a useful starting point for comparison with Guangzhou: established Zhejiang manufacturers and southern businesses can respond to the same brief. We do not apply the price of a particular order to an entire region's output.

Start with a specific product: lipstick, gloss, blusher, eyeshadow, or another category. Then decide whether you need an existing formula with your branding or a modified formulation. OEM and ODM are used differently in quotations, so describing the result in writing matters more: who develops the formula, who approves the shade, who owns approved artwork, and what can be changed.

For colour cosmetics, compare shade, texture, application, fill weight, fragrance, and the stability of the agreed sample. Also discuss suitable tests and documentation for the sales market. A sample must be tied to a particular formula and packaging version: an attractive tester without a version number cannot explain why the next batch differs.

Request separate prices for the product, primary packaging, decoration, box, samples, and required checks. Confirm the minimum quantity per shade, not just for the overall order. If several colours are planned, establish which components can be purchased together and which are costed separately. This is the starting point for a focused manufacturer search for your category and volume.

Meibo City: cosmetics and packaging in one trading centre

Meibo City is in Yuexiu district at 121 Guangyuan West Road. It offers cosmetics, salon products, and packaging materials. If you need bottles, jars, dispensers, or boxes, bring a product sample and a list of required components. This is a separate sourcing destination in the city and should not be confused with Baiyun's bag market.

On site, compare packaging shape, size, material, and decoration, and clarify minimum quantities and repeat-order availability. Ask who manufactures the chosen assembly and where printing or other decoration takes place. A market visit helps gather options; samples, production, and supply terms are then agreed separately before launching your own product.

Packaging: comparing Yuyao with Guangzhou suppliers

Yuyao has manufacturers of cosmetic packaging, including bottles, dispensers, sprayers, jars, and other components. In Guangzhou, you can initially compare options at Meibo City, then discuss manufacture and modifications with a particular supplier. Huadu also has businesses making plastic cosmetic packaging. Choose according to construction and order requirements: one buyer needs only a standard printed bottle, while another needs a new body and custom mould.

First establish what the price includes. A bottle without a dispenser, a bottle with a cap, and a fully assembled set are different offers. Specify working capacity, materials of product-contact components, neck finish, closure, dose per actuation, and desired appearance. For a sprayer, also agree the spray pattern; for a thick product, confirm that the system delivers the required portion.

Test the complete assembly with the actual product. A matching thread does not establish leak-tightness, and an attractive coating does not prove resistance to the contents or transport. Dispensing-system manufacturers separately describe formula compatibility, dosing, and transport locking. Include these parameters in discussions with the chosen supplier and agree a test programme for your formulation.

Standard and customised packaging have different preparation costs and lead times. If you need your own mould, record its cost, ownership, storage, maintenance, and conditions of use in advance. A repeat order should clearly identify the tooling and drawing version being used. These terms should not exist only in correspondence about the first sample.

Combining cosmetics production in Guangzhou with packaging from Yuyao is also possible. First agree who is responsible for completeness, compatibility testing, and packaging acceptance at the filling line. Compare savings on one component with extra domestic transport, defect allowances, and coordination time. A packaging supplier's proximity to the cosmetics factory is useful only if quality and terms are suitable.

Small appliances: Zhongshan compared with Cixi

Cixi and Zhongshan's northern industrial districts are established destinations for household appliances. In Zhongshan, consider Dongfeng and Nantou separately. These provide several possible production bases; the choice depends on the appliance and whether you need an existing model, configuration changes, or development.

Compare the same purpose and equipment specification. Similar-looking appliances can differ in motor, heating element, materials, controls, and protective functions. State the sales country, mains voltage and frequency, plug, required power, included accessories, and instruction language. A photograph of the housing does not describe everything the buyer ultimately pays for.

For a new brand, establish whether the same configuration can be reordered. Ask to fix key components and the process for approving substitutions. Discuss spare parts, consumables, pre-shipment inspection, and fault handling. Ask these questions before the first batch, while you can still compare suppliers.

If the objective is to test a category quickly, discuss an existing model and available quantity first, without assuming any small order is possible. A custom housing adds development, tooling, and testing to the calculation. Tiger helps turn factory responses into comparable orders, and subsequent supplier payment arrangements are agreed before payment becomes due.

Beauty devices: why “ice hair removal” is not a sufficient description

Home beauty devices and professional aesthetic equipment require separate sourcing. Vera included body-contouring and hair-removal devices in the Cixi destination; for a southern comparison, we consider specialist businesses in Guangzhou and the surrounding region. A separate Shenzhen search can also be useful for home light-based devices. Office and production addresses may differ.

The phrase “ice hair removal” describes cooling but does not identify the light source. For example, home IPL equipment with a cooled sapphire window exists, while professional laser systems belong to a different category. The first enquiry should obtain the exact technology, model, intended use, and technical description. Comparing only a handset photograph or a claimed flash count is insufficient.

Likewise, “slimming machine” is too broad a purchasing description. Offers use different physical methods under different operating conditions. Until the technology is identified, two devices, their servicing, and their documentation cannot be meaningfully compared. A sourcing article does not turn a seller's advertising claim into a proven treatment result.

For comparison, request a technical datasheet, specifications of the working radiation or other output, cooling system, replacement-part life and cost, repair terms, and evidence supporting declared specifications. Tests and authorisation documents are determined for the particular model and market. A document for a similar device does not validate yours; ordinary warehouse inspection does not replace that assessment.

For professional equipment, clarify training, instructions, servicing, and consumable availability separately. Tiger can arrange meetings, relay technical questions, and coordinate the order. Transport feasibility and documents are discussed for the selected model, without promising identical terms for every device.

Clothing, bags, and footwear: different sourcing tasks

Baiyun Market: women's handbags and style selection

On Vera's itinerary, Baiyun Market is a destination for women's handbags. Buyers compare styles for their shops: shape, colour, material, finishing, and hardware. One shop needs distinctive window-display pieces; another needs a range it can replenish regularly. Send photographs of the desired style and a target price before visiting.

We first assess the particular sample: lining, seams, handle attachments, fastenings, and material appearance. Then we clarify colour availability, first-order quantities, and repeat-order terms. For purchases involving a particular brand, product origin and supply rights are checked separately; the market's name does not establish them.

Shiling in Huadu: backpacks, leather, and materials

In Shiling, part of Huadu district, we focus on backpacks and bag-making materials: leather, lining, and hardware. This differs from selecting ready-made women's bags at Baiyun Market. Start with the backpack's purpose: everyday, school, laptop, or travel. Then compare fabric, lining, hardware, handle construction, seams, and edge finishing. Evaluate the sample under the expected load, not just on display.

Shiling and Haining should not be presented as interchangeable merely because both involve leather. In our series, Haining is primarily associated with leather clothing, and Shiling with bags. For your own brand, agree construction, logo, and design rights. Resemblance to a well-known brand does not grant permission to use its marks.

Xintang: denim clothing

Xintang in Zengcheng district is a distinct denim destination. An enquiry should describe fabric, fit, finishing, size range, and appearance after washing. Discuss shrinkage and acceptable colour variation between batches. The word “stretch” or a photograph of a fashionable silhouette does not replace an approved sample and measurement chart.

When comparing Xintang with fabric sourcing in Keqiao, recognise the different task: finished jeans and fabric for subsequent garment production are at different supply-chain stages. First decide who is responsible for fabric, cutting, finishing, and final fit. That determines whether you need a fabric seller or a finished-garment manufacturer.

Yanbu in Foshan: underwear

Yanbu, part of Dali in Nanhai district, is associated with underwear production. Prepare sizes and requirements for fit, cups, elastic materials, and trims in advance. For regular supply, discuss whether the same construction and material can be repeated. Replenishing popular sizes may matter more than the variety in the first selection.

We assess swimwear as a separate category: underwear production does not establish the necessary range or technology. Suitable businesses and actual Tiger cases will be covered in a future dedicated article; for now, we do not attribute the same specialisation to every factory.

Houjie in Dongguan: footwear and product development

Houjie includes footwear manufacturing, development, and trade. An enquiry needs intended use, upper and sole materials, size range, last, and expected volume. For a new style, determine which samples and sizes will be checked before mass production. One pair in a middle size does not answer every question about fit across the range.

Compare footwear from different cities using the same product specification. Terms for a casual-shoe factory cannot be applied to protective or sports footwear. Record product requirements and inspection methods before ordering, then agree packaging and labelling. For an importer, this supports repeatable supply rather than a one-off purchase of a promising sample.

Shenzhen and Huaqiangbei: smartphones, headphones, and tablets

For consumer electronics on the southern itinerary, we focus on Shenzhen, including the Huaqiangbei trading district. This differs from buying kitchen appliances in Zhongshan: clients select smartphones, headphones, tablets including iPad, and related electronic devices. Allow approximately two to three hours by car each way from Guangzhou; the specific address and traffic can change the estimate.

Before the meeting, prepare a list of models and configurations: storage capacity, version for the sales market, included accessories, and condition. New, used, and refurbished devices are different offers. Do not compare only a model name and box photograph: establish exactly what the batch contains, how devices are checked, and what happens when a fault is found.

For smartphones and tablets, agree checks of main functions, battery condition, serial details, and absence of another person's account lock. For headphones, compatibility, charging, microphone, completeness, and model consistency matter. The buyer approves a sample and acceptance criteria before paying for the batch. Brand availability, product origin, and warranty terms are clarified with the supplier.

For devices with batteries, provide the manager with the model, quantity, and technical description. Packaging, possible transport routes, and required documents are agreed for the particular cargo. Market and factory visits are also planned separately: a trading address is not automatically a factory address.

How to obtain comparable offers from two regions

Ask factories to quote for the same order. If one offers basic packaging while another includes printing, a box, and inspection, the price difference alone does not establish value. Keep a single comparison table with a separate column for exclusions.

What to recordWhy it matters to the buyer
Product, material, formula, or configurationAvoid treating different products as equivalent
Volume by style, colour, and sizeUnderstand actual minimum quantities and remaining stock
Sample and versionProvide a clear production reference
Tooling, printing, packaging, and testsIdentify costs beyond the unit price
Lead time, payment terms, and change approvalConnect production with the purchasing plan
Acceptance, deviations, and defect handlingAgree how problems will be resolved in advance
Domestic transport, cargo volume, and import costsCompare the delivered cost to your warehouse

A working calculation includes goods, preparation, packaging, agreed checks, transport within China, and international freight. Import payments depend on the particular goods and destination country. This is a costing structure, not a universal tariff. An inexpensive empty bottle may occupy considerable freight volume, while a device may require additional documentation and servicing costs.

When comparing two regions, filter out unsuitable offers remotely first. The trip can then focus on factories willing to discuss your requirements. We recommend allowing time to recheck samples and correct specifications: this often determines whether both parties understand the order.

How Tiger supports sourcing: eight types of work

Not every client needs the full range of services. You can bring your own supplier and ask us to collect the goods, or start with a manufacturer search. Here is how Tiger's eight service areas relate to a typical purchase in Guangzhou and nearby cities.

  1. Supplier sourcing. We clarify the product, volume, and criteria, shortlist suitable businesses, and prepare comparison questions. We check that their specialisation matches the brief, rather than treating a directory address as a finished recommendation.
  2. Purchasing on the client's behalf. We combine agreed items, quantities, and terms into an order and coordinate supplier confirmations. The client can see exactly what is being ordered and which questions remain open.
  3. Arranging custom production. We communicate requirements and coordinate samples, changes, and approval before mass production. Working with a factory to your brief starts with a clear specification; Tiger does not present itself as the manufacturer.
  4. Goods inspection. We compare incoming goods with the agreed order and record discrepancies. The scope is agreed in advance. Laboratory composition analysis and specialist device testing are discussed separately.
  5. Warehousing and consolidation. We receive batches from different suppliers, match them to orders, and prepare them for dispatch. Agreed labels help preserve box ownership when cargo is combined.
  6. International transport. We select a delivery option from China according to the goods, weight, volume, destination, and required date. Final terms are calculated for the shipment.
  7. Customs clearance. We gather product information and coordinate document preparation for customs clearance of the particular batch. Questions affecting import feasibility are best resolved before paying for production.
  8. Business travel. We arrange meetings, interpretation, and the sequence of visits. The programme allows time for sample comparisons and client decisions, with transport planned around actual addresses.

For deliveries to Russia, we agree warehouse handling and delivery after arrivalin advance so that both parts of the route connect.

Under Tiger's current terms, collection and agreed warehouse inspection are free. Packaging, customs clearance, and transport are priced separately. Specialist technical assessment is not automatically included in routine warehouse inspection. This distinction makes it clear which work will be performed and which items carry a separate charge.

Preparing a trip and continuing after you return

For an initial discussion, provide the category or product examples, expected quantity, and delivery city. We then clarify the price segment, required arrival date, and purchasing format. If you already have suppliers, add their addresses and meeting objectives: viewing a sample, checking production, or agreeing a repeat batch.

For a cosmetics brand, meetings with product and packaging manufacturers make sense. For appliances, compare selected Zhongshan businesses or arrange a separate Cixi programme. For a clothing shop, choose Guangzhou markets and one specialist destination such as Xintang. These illustrate itinerary planning, not fixed tours promising a set number of factories per day.

A Russian-speaking interpreter costs USD 150 per day; a sourcing manager without Russian costs USD 50 per day. A working day is eight hours, including lunch and travel between visits. Tiger provides free airport pickup by prior arrangement and helps book hotels. Clients pay for accommodation and meals; transport is calculated for the actual itinerary.

Before booking flights, check entry rules for your passport, purpose, and travel dates. Terms can differ by nationality. Choose a hotel after identifying the main meetings: a convenient location for one market may be inconvenient for a manufacturing itinerary on the other side of the region.

Work continues on the same orders after the trip. Each item should retain its approved sample, quantity, completion date, and supplier contact. If part of a batch is ready earlier, decide separately whether to wait for everything or split the shipment. The decision depends on selling deadlines and freight cost, not simply a desire to dispatch boxes quickly.

Detailed guides by destination

This article is the starting point for the southern series. Detailed guides will cover Baiyun women's handbags, Meibo City cosmetics and packaging, Shiling backpacks and materials, Xintang denim, Yanbu underwear, Zhongshan appliances, Dongguan footwear, and Shenzhen electronics. While they are being prepared, links in the destination table lead to sections of this article.

The Hangzhou sourcing series is developing alongside it. Comparable goods will be assessed through the same questions: samples, minimum quantities, production, repeat orders, and delivery. Where destinations serve different purposes, we will say so: Haining leather clothing and Shiling backpacks, for example, complement a range but are not direct substitutes.

Questions before sourcing in Guangzhou

Do I need to visit every city listed?

No. We first choose the product and suitable suppliers. One task may need only a few meetings in one direction; different categories need separate programmes. Travel time is calculated using actual addresses.

Is colour-cosmetics production cheaper in Guangzhou or Zhejiang?

Tiger has received affordable offers from partners in Quzhou and Dongyang. For your order, compare the same formula, shades, quantity, packaging, and checks. There is no universal regional price difference.

Can cosmetics and packaging be ordered in different regions?

Yes, this arrangement can be considered. Before ordering, agree completeness, product compatibility, acceptance at the filling line, and domestic transport. Record each participant's responsibility for every stage.

Are Cixi and Zhongshan suitable for every appliance?

No. They are sourcing destinations containing businesses with different specialisations. For a particular device, we check specifications, production, order volume, documents, and repeat-supply capability.

Does “ice hair removal” mean laser?

Not necessarily. IPL devices can also use cooling. Identify the technology, model, operating conditions, and verified specifications before comparing equipment in the same category.

Can I start without travelling to China?

Yes. Start with a brief, supplier selection, and sample approval. Then decide whether you need an in-person meeting, a production visit, or remote order support.

What does free warehouse inspection include?

Agreed checks and visual inspection of incoming goods, with the scope discussed for the order. Checking boxes or samples does not replace cosmetics composition analysis or specialist electrical-equipment testing.

What should I send Tiger to get started?

The category or product examples, expected quantity, and delivery city. Include any sample, model list, or supplier addresses so that we can move more quickly to a concrete sourcing programme.
